I’m Allergic to Onion. Which Crafty Cook Products Can I Buy?
If you’re allergic or sensitive to onion, finding convenient foods that are suitable for you can sometimes be a challenge. So, which Crafty Cook products can you enjoy without worrying about onion?
At the time of writing, our Cock-a-Leekie Soup Mix, Chicken and Mushroom Risotto Mix and BBQ Chicken Risotto Mix do not contain any onion in their ingredients and can be enjoyed as they are.
However, one of the advantages of being a small business, and handcraft every product ourselves, we can often adapt recipes to meet individual customer requirements and therefore we are much more flexible than larger manufacturers. So, as we add onion to many of our products, we can also leave it out.
Onion is a little more difficult, than garlic or other ingredients, to remove from the majority of our products as it’s in the vegetable stock powder we use, however the following products don’t have onion in their stock powders and they are products that we can take the added onion out of, so you can also add these to your list of possibilities… Chicken Noodle Soup Mix, Chinese Chicken Noodle Soup Mix, Turkey Broth Soup Mix (avail Sept to Dec), Beef in Ale Stew Mix, Chicken and Leek Risotto Mix, Spicy Chicken Satay Risotto Mix, Jambalaya Rice Mix, Turkey and Cranberry Risotto Mix (avail Sept to Dec) if you have a stock powder that you can use instead at home, let us know and we can leave out the vegetable stock powder too from any of our other products and send you instructions on how much you’ll need to use of your own, based on our own measurements – your stock powders may need a slightly different amount.
If you’d like to order one of our other soup, stew or risotto mixes without onion, simply add a note in the comments box when placing your order through our website. Wherever possible, we’ll make a product up, especially for you, without onion.
Because onion contributes to the flavour profile of many recipes, the taste may be slightly different from the original version, but we’ll do our best to ensure it’s still delicious.
While we take great care during production and cleaning procedures, we cannot guarantee the complete absence of trace amounts of onion. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend contacting us before ordering so that we can discuss your individual requirements.
