Our Lentil and Smoky Bacon Flavour Soup Mix is completely vegan and gluten-free. The smoky bacon flavour comes from flavourings rather than meat, giving the soup a rich, savoury and smoky taste while remaining suitable for vegans.
Think of it as all the comforting smoky flavour, without the bacon itself.
Does it actually taste smoky?
Yes.
The smoky bacon flavour adds a warming, savoury depth to the soup, balanced by red lentils, potato, tomato, carrot, onion and parsley.
It’s not overpoweringly smoky, but it does give the soup a deliciously rich and comforting flavour.
Could I make lentil soup myself for less?
You probably could.
If you already have lentils, potatoes, vegetables, stock and seasonings in your cupboard, making soup from scratch may work out cheaper.

What do I need to add?
Just 1500ml of cold water for the 4 serving pack.
Add the contents of the pack, including the stock sachet, to a pan with the water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are cooked.
If needed, top up the water during cooking and leave the soup to stand for 5 minutes before serving to allow it to thicken.
Is it a meal or a starter?
That depends on how hungry you are!
Served with warm crusty bread, many customers enjoy it as a satisfying lunch or light evening meal.
It can also be served in smaller portions as a starter.

Add packet contents, including the stock sachet, to 1500ml of cold water in a pan. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the lentils are cooked.
Top up water to original level during cooking if required. Stir occasionally. Turn off heat and leave for 5 minutes to thicken. Serve with some warm crusty bread.

Add packet contents, including the stock sachet, to 750ml of cold water in a pan. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the lentils are cooked.
Top up water to original level during cooking if required. Stir occasionally. Turn off heat and leave for 5 minutes to thicken. Serve with some warm crusty bread.

12 Serving Catering Pack Method:
Add the packet contents, including the stock sachets, to a large pan with 3900ml of cold water.
Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and then simmer for 20-30 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed into the rice.
Stir regularly. Season to taste.
